Dean Dates Receives $48,487 Check for Media Sales Institute

National Association of Broadcasters' President Eddie O. Fritts and Charles "Chuck" Sherman, president of the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation (NABEF) presented a check for $48,487 to Dr. Jannette L. Dates, dean of the School of Communications, on March 1 in support of the Department of Radio, Television and Film's Media Sales Institute.

The Institute will comprise an intensive 10-day program designed by the Maryland-based media management and training company, Personal Selling Principles, to prepare talented students for entry into the broadcast media sales field.

Led by lecturer Ernest Fears, the program will include guest lectures by broadcasters and other media professionals from the Television Bureau of Advertising, the Radio Advertising Bureau and the National Association of Black-Owned Broadcasters. Recruitment opportunities also will be available to students who complete the program.
