CPNAHS Dean Named to Board of Examiners for Baldrige National Quality Award
Pedro J. Lecca, Ph.D., dean of the College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (CPNAHS), has been appointed to the 2004 Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the highest recognition for performance excellence that a U.S. organization can receive. In this position, he will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating applications submitted for the award. |

Psychiatry Professor Receives Mental Health Association's President's Award
Luther D. Robinson, M.D., Sc.D. (Hon.), associate professor emeritus of psychiatry, received the District of Columbia Mental Health Association's President’s Achievement Award at its annual meeting held on Wednesday, May 12, at the Blackburn Center. He was recognized for his 50 years of service to the field. The association’s mission is to promote mental health and prevent mental illness through advocacy, education and information, and referral services to the entire D.C. population.

Journalism Professor's Book Wins Sigma Delta Chi Award
Clint Wilson, Ed.D., professor of journalism and graduate professor of communications in the John H. Johnson School of Communications, has won a Sigma Delta Chi Award for Excellence in Journalism in the research category for his recent book “Racism, Sexism and The Media.” He is the lead author of the book co-written by Dr. Felix Gutierrez, University of Southern California, and Dr. Lena Chao, California State University, Los Angeles. The award will be presented on Friday, July 9, at a banquet at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. |

Administrative Coordinator Inducted into MOTTEP Hall of Fame
Curtis L. Yeager, Transplant Center administrative coordinator for Howard University Hospital, was inducted into the National Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program’s (MOTTEP®) 2004 National Minority Transplant Hall of Fame as the recipient of the Pioneer Award. The award was presented to Yeager, employed for more than 35 years, on April 22 at the Charles Sumner Museum and Archives located in Washington, D.C. The Hall of Fame honors individuals and organizations who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and dedication in minority organ and tissue transplantation. |
