| Chontrese M. Doswell, Ph.D., has been appointed assistant dean for Retention, Mentoring, and Support Programs in the Graduate School. The former director of the Office of Graduate Recruitment, Retention and Diversity at the University of Maryland-College Park, Doswell received her Ph.D. degree from Howard University in 1994. She is chair of the National Name Exchange, a distinguished consortium of prestigious institutions of which Howard is a member. |

| Yanick Rice Lamb, lecturer in the John H. Johnson School of Communications, will be among the authors featured at the Karibu Books-Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Authors Pavilion during the CBC Foundation Inc.'s 34th Annual Legislative Conference. She and co-author Frances Clayton Gray will sign copies of their work “Born to Win: The Authorized Biography of Althea Gibson” at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, in the CBC pavilion. |

Leffall Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S., Charles Drew Professor of Surgery, Department of Surgery, has been elected an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, an independent professional body committed to promoting and advancing the highest standards of surgical care for patients. A fellowship is one of the college’s highest honors, recognizing individuals who have made outstanding contributions to surgery. |

| Robert Williams, M.D., is the new president of the medical staff at Howard University Hospital, effective July 1st. Williams, a graduate of the College of Medicine in 1964, is a practicing physician in community health and family practice. He is also the co-founder of the Spirituality and Medicine Seminar. |

| Howard E. Wilson, M.D., director, Family Medicine Group of Howard University, has been elected and installed as the 56th president of the Maryland Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP), the largest professional medical specialty society in Maryland with more than 1200 members representing practicing family physicians, family physicians in training and medical students. |
