Adjunct Law Professor Receives American Bar Association's Spirit of Excellence Award
Senior Judge Arthur L. Burnett Sr., Howard alumnus and adjunct professor in the School of Law, received the Spirit of Excellence Award from the American Bar Association (ABA) on Feb. 12, at the ABA Mid-Year Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah. This prestigious award celebrates the efforts and accomplishments of lawyers who work to promote a more racially and ethnically diverse legal profession, as well as excel in their professional settings and personify excellence on the national, state or local level. Burnett is currently working with the National African American Drug Policy Coalition as the national executive director. Law School Dean Kurt L. Schmoke serves as coalition co-chair. |

CAR English Instructor Publishes Eighth Collection of Poems
Janét R. Griffin, whose professional name is Lady Janét, is an English/study skills instructor in the Center for Academic Reinforcement (CAR), School of Education. She has published her eighth collection of poems, “Moment in the Sand” (AuthorHouse). The book causes the reader to pay closer attention to the complexities of life's emotions: pain, lingering grief, appalling apathy and hope.
