Director of the Howard University
Career Services Office (CSO),
Mr. Kim R. Wells leads Howard’s
central and primary office
for career and professional
development services. Key
CSO services include one of
the nation’s busiest
campus recruitment programs,
vibrant student career consultation
and career education programs,
hosting one of the nation’s
oldest job fairs, two dynamic
career weeks, managing comprehensive
online career development
services.
Mr. Wells also leads numerous
career development special
events and initiatives for
campus including the Offices’
Global Connections initiative
to assist international students
in finding career opportunities
in their homelands, and special
initiatives involving targeted
populations such as assisting
students in the school of
Divinity in development strategic
career development plans to
integrate their divinity training
with modern organizational
skill sets needed in today’s
modern church organizations.
Mr. Wells came to Howard University
after working in the corporate
world primarily in the areas
of Human Capital Management,
Strategic Communications,
and Career Development. Mr.
Wells has worked with prominent
Washington area consulting
firms including Vantage Human
Resources Consulting, and
Booz-Allen & Hamilton
Consulting. Mr. Wells’
diversity of experience also
includes working in Career
Services at American University,
and Directing Co-Curricular
Programs for Northern Virginia
Community College in Annandale.
As a consultant Mr. Wells
has worked on notable projects
which have included Diversity
Training and Performance Development
initiatives at PEPCO, Management
Development Programs and Strategic
Planning Initiatives for Health
and Human Service’s
Health Resources and Services
Administration, Strategic
development and communications
strategies for the Pentagon’s
Army University Access On-Line
Program, and Developing Strategic
Development and Modernization
strategies for divisions within
the IRS.
Mr. Wells is very active with
advisory committee initiatives
which include Monster Trak.com,
the White House HBCU Career
Development Initiative, and
the National Association of
Colleges and Employers Diversity
Advancement Committee, Universum
Communications Advisory Counsel,
The Partnership for Public
Service Career Services Task
Force, The Fields Road Elementary
School of Montgomery County
MD- Principle’s Advisory
Board & African American
Parent Liaison Coordinator,
and is an Advisor to Webcast
Resume, a start-up diversity
professional development organization.
Mr. Wells is also a freelance
writer and has published several
articles on career and professional
development trends with national
publications including Black
Collegian Magazine, Minority
MBA Magazine and Graduating
Engineer & Computer Careers
Magazine. Mr. Wells has also
been quoted in prominent African
American publications such
as Ebony, Black Enterprise,
and Honey Magazine. Mr. Wells
has also been interviewed
for National Public Radio,
Marketplace Program, and interviewed
on HUTV, and CTV on their
dynamic Trailblazer
personal and professional
development program.
Mr.
Wells earned his MA in Organizational
Communications from Howard
University, and a BA in Liberal
Arts Sociology with a concentration
in Human Resource Development
from the College of NJ.
