Howard Organizations to Join Forces to Host First Aid Drive for Haiti, Chile
Washington (Feb 26, 2010) – On March 4, the Howard University community will host “First Aid for Haiti: The Healing Campaign” to collect materials for earthquake survivors including band-aids, gauze, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and anti bacterial ointments. In light of the recent devastation in Chile, a portion of these supplies will be donated to assist in those relief efforts as well.
Alpha Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. have joined forces with the Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel, the Howard University Chapel Assistants, Howard University Student Association, the Haitian Student Association, NAACP (Howard Chapter), and the Political Education Action Committee to launch this initiative.
Volunteers will collect supplies in the Blackburn Center from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Beginning at 12:30 p.m., there will be a Haitian cultural exhibition including spoken word and musical tributes to entertain donors in the University’s main eatery – The Punch-Out. WHBC 830AM, the student run radio station, will also provide a DJ and host.
