| Dean Named for College of Pharmacy and Nursing & Allied Health Sciences |

Beatrice Adderley-Kelly, Ph.D., RN, has been appointed Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. As dean, Adderley-Kelly will be the chief executive officer of the College charged with enhancing the legacy of Howard University in health sciences education, research and clinical services. She will work with the College’s faculty, staff and students to create an atmosphere of cohesiveness and collaboration, to promote an environment that fosters excellence in research, teaching, and professional services, and coordinate faculty activities to attain the educational objectives and academic standards that will help the College achieve and maintain accreditation for the various academic programs. With more than 30 years of teaching and administrative/leadership experience in higher education, Adderley-Kelly has devoted her entire academic career to promoting and advancing the academic achievement of minority undergraduate and graduate students. Prior to serving as interim dean beginning in 2005, she served as department chair, assistant dean for undergraduate and graduate programs, assistant dean for academic affairs and chair of numerous committees and task forces. As an educator, she has expertise in teaching, curriculum design, test construction and outcomes assessment. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the National League for Nursing, the National Black Nurses Association, the Association of Black Faculty in Higher Education, as well the District of Columbia League for Nurses, where she served as vice president and secretary. Adderley-Kelly earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from North Carolina A&T State University, a Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Education and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Howard University. |
