Howard University Announces New
Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer
Washington, D.C., December 14, 2005 --- Mr. Sidney H. Evans, Jr. has been appointed as the chief financial officer and treasurer of Howard University by H. Patrick Swygert, president.
Mr. Evans obtained his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1977 and his M.B.A. in finance in 1978 from the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. He has held financial management positions with Citibank, N.A., Wachovia Bank and Trust Company, Ciba-Geigy Corporation, and Unisys Corporation. He also has served as president of Evans Management Associates, a consulting firm for small businesses; chief financial officer for the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department; and the vice president of business and finance for Dillard University. Additionally, Mr. Evans previously served as director of the Office of Financial Analysis and Budget of Howard University. He returns to the University as a highly accomplished and regarded leader and financial administrator.
