(February 2, 2009) - Michael
Eric Dyson, Ph.D., a noted
author, public speaker and
Georgetown University professor,
has been added to the list
of panelists who will address
HIV/AIDS at the Howard University
Fourth Annual Hip-Hop and
Higher Education Symposium
from 1 p.m. – 5p.m.
on Thursday, February 5 in
the Blackburn Center Ballroom,
2347 Sixth Street, NW.
Dyson will be joining Howard
University Professor Debyii
Thomas, Ph.D., Grammy-Award-winning
artist Mya, HIV/AIDS activist
Maria Davis, film actress
Gina Ravera, WKYS radio personality
Angie Ange, television personality
Melyssa Ford, Patrick Packer,
executive director of the
Southern AIDS Coalition and
Taylor Thomas of The Steve
Harvey Morning Show and WHUR
96.3 FM.
The speakers will be wrestling
with the difficult subject
of "HIV/AIDS, Women,
and the Hip-Hop Generation"
during a panel discussion
and a town hall meeting from
3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. The event
will also include free HIV
testing and exhibits from
HIV/AIDS-related organizations.
