RNC Chairman Hosts “Freedom Tour” Town Hall at Howard
WASHINGTON (August 26, 2009) -- Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican National Committee, will host a town-hall-style meeting at Howard University on Tuesday, September 1 in the Armour J. Blackburn University Center, West Ballroom.
Steele, the former lieutenant governor of Maryland, was the first African-American to be elected GOP chairman in January.
"We wanted to provide a venue for Chairman Steele to speak to all students regarding his views and allow students to create an interactive and vibrant political discussion on current issues that affect the student body and surrounding community," said Brandon Cooper, chair of the Howard University College Republicans.
The College Republicans, College Democrats and the Political Science Society are sponsoring the event.
