Google
Inc. Donates $100K Gift
to Howard Law’s
Antitrust Law Program

Washington,
DC: Google Inc. recently
made an unrestricted
gift of $100,000 to
Howard University School
of Law in support of
Professor Andrew I.
Gavil’s antitrust
research and scholarship.
Among other projects,
the gift will support
his current work on
The Evolving “Market”
for Private Antitrust
Litigation in the United
States. Howard Law received
this gift in the 2010
Spring Semester.
Professor
Gavil has written, lectured,
and commented extensively
in the U.S. and abroad
on various aspects of
antitrust law, jurisdiction,
and procedure, and recently
served as Visiting Professor
at the Centre for Competition
Policy at the University
of East Anglia.
At Howard Law, he teaches
courses on antitrust
law, civil procedure,
complex litigation,
and federal courts and
also serves as Faculty
Advisor to |
the
Howard Law Journal. He currently
serves as a member of the
Council of the Antitrust Section
of the American Bar Association
and is the lead co-author
of Antitrust Law in Perspective:
Cases Concepts and Problems
in Competition Policy (2d
ed. 2008) and the editor of
An Antitrust Anthology (1996).
Professor Gavil’s former
Howard Law students have become
attorneys at the Department
of Justice, the Federal Trade
Commission, and international
law firms specializing in
antitrust litigation.
Prior
to joining Howard Law in 1989,
Professor Gavil practiced
law with firms in Chicago
and Denver. He received his
B.A. magna cum laude in 1978
from Queens College of the
City University of New York,
and his J.D. in 1981 from
Northwestern University School
of Law, where he was a member
of the Law Review.
