Celebrates 40 Years of Academic
Excellence with Anniversary
Banquet and Gala

WASHINGTON,
D.C. (Aug. 26) –
The Howard University
School of Business will
celebrate 40 years of
Academic Excellence
with an Anniversary
Awards Dinner on Thursday,
Oct. 7, 2010 at the
JW Marriott Hotel in
Washington, D.C.
The
theme for this year’s
celebration dinner is
“Embracing
Excellence – Preparing
today’s students
to be leaders in the
Global Community.”
The Howard University
School of Business has
been a model for higher
education since its
founding in 1970. The
school’s success
is reflected in national
rankings of the University
(U.S. News and World
Report), the MBA Program
(Wall Street Journal,
The Princeton Review,
and Fortune Small Business
Magazine), and the undergraduate
program (Business Week
and Black Enterprise
Magazine). This premier
event will also serve
as a major fundraising
activity for the school’s
scholarship fund. |
The awards dinner will
be held at the JW Marriott Hotel
at 7 p.m., preceded by a reception
at 6 p.m. Alumna Joanne Price,
managing partner, Fairview Capital
Partners Inc. and School of
Business Board of Visitors member
will serve as the Dinner Chair
and alumnus George Willie, managing
partner, Bert Smith & Co.,
School of Business Board of
Visitors member will serve as
the Dinner Co-Chair. The anniversary
dinner will honor the following
distinguished individuals who
have made significant contributions
in the field of business:
Leadership
Award – Honorable Dennis
F. Hightower, Deputy Secretary
of Commerce
Executive Award – Shelley
Stewart, senior vice president,
Tyco
Alumni Award – Donald
Christian, partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers
Entrepreneur Award – Hugh
and Constance Williams, Continental
Painting & Decorating Inc.
Jazz artists Marcus Johnson
Project, Phaze II, and the Howard
University Jazz Ensemble will
be performing live during the
dinner.
