WASHINGTON (March 8, 2011) – While many college students choose to vacation during their Spring Break, the Howard Gospel Choir will travel to five cities for a tour titled the 'Release’ from March 11 to March 20. The choir will perform in Indianapolis, Chicago, Grand Rapids, Mich, Detroit and Atlanta.

“This is a very exciting time of year for the choir,” Ray Bramble, business manager of the Howard Gospel Choir said. “We are excited for the opportunity to minister in the cities that we will visit.

The Howard Gospel Choir was founded in 1968 on the campus of Howard University. The award-winning ensemble has sought to excel in the music ministry for over four decades and most recently headlined tours in Denmark and Sweden.

Alumni of the Howard Gospel Choir include Grammy Award winner Richard Smallwood and Elberta “Twinkie” Clark of the legendary Clark Sisters gospel group. The choir is currently under the music direction of Clifton Ross III of BET’s Sunday Best.

Clifton Ross III, director, leads Howard Gospel Choir during a performance on March 6, 2011.
