WASHINGTON – Donovan Jordan, a sixth grader at the Howard University Middle School of Mathematics and Science (MS)², won first place in the citywide spelling bee in the Washington Informer City-wide Spelling Bee competition held March 19.
Jordan was the only male in the city-wide contest this year. He represented the District of Columbia in the 2011 Scripps National Spelling Bee competition in June.
“It’s exciting,” he said. “It has always been a goal and now it feels like a dream.”
