Center for Excellence in Advertising at Howard University and Time Warner Present "Minority" Now Trending Majority, A Look at the 2010 U.S. Census Data and What It Means to Advertisers

The Center for Excellence in Advertising (CEA) at Howard University and Time Warner will host a panel discussion entitled: "Minority" Now Trending Majority, A Look at the 2010 U.S. Census Data and What It Means to Advertisers, on September 12, 2011 at 6 PM in New York.

Through a roundtable discussion, this seminar will explore how agencies and other communications executives should advise their clients and prepare to engage a multicultural society.

According to the Census Bureau's latest population reports, America's minorities are already its majority when analyzing the race and ethnicity of four-year olds. If this birth rate trend continues, by 2026 the majority of the country's 18 year olds and younger will be people of color.

“Because of this shift in demographics, agencies need to embrace these cultural shifts and diversify their teams to remain relevant. We will explore those shifts and discuss how to successfully engage diversity to assist clients bottom-lines,” said Dr. Jannette L. Dates, founder of CEA and dean, School of Communications at Howard University.

Leading the discussion are:

• Lisa Garcia Quiroz – Senior Vice President, Corporate Responsibility and Diversity at Time Warner
• Yla Eason – Director of Learning and Development at R/GA
• Don Lowery – Senior Vice President, Government and Public Affairs at Nielsen
• Ola Mobolade – Managing Director at Firefly Millward Brown and Co-author of "Marketing to the New Majority"
• David Burgos - Vice President at Firefly Millward Brown and Co-author of "Marketing to the New Majority"
• Robert L. McNeil - President & CEO of Images USA
• Jeffrey Bowman - Cross-Cultural Practice Lead at Ogilvy & Mather

Proceeds from the event will support scholarships to help diversify the advertising industry. Tickets cost $150 for guests and $100 for Howard University alumni.
