Afro-Blue Moves on to Next Round on NBC’s The Sing-Off
WASHINGTON (Oct. 18) - Afro-Blue, Howard University’s premier vocal jazz ensemble, made it through the third round of the NBC hit a cappella talent show series The Sing-Off. This week, the group performed a Whitney Houston hit, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” The ensemble received positive feedback and critique from the judges. Afro-Blue will continue on to compete for the grand prize of $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony Music.
This is the third season of The Sing-Off, which is hosted by Nick Lachey. Judges Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman and Sara Bareilles critique contestants’ performances.
Afro-Blue has recorded two CDs, “It’s a Matter of Pride” and “Freedom in Song.”
