WHUT Sponsors “It’s…Time to VOTE” PSA Contest

WASHINGTON (October 1, 2012) – WHUT, Howard University’s public televisio station, announced the launch of its 30-second PSA video contest “It’s (Your/My/Our) Time to Vote.”  Contest winners will have their PSAs aired on RESNET, and possibly WHUT/32, beginning Oct. 24 through Election Day. One winner will receive a HD radio, courtesy of WHUR 96.3.

The campus-wide contest is open to Howard students and includes the following details and regulations.

Program Details:

  • Create a 30-second spot that encourage citizens to VOTE on November 6th.
  • Flyer to be distributed via RESNET, HUSA communications, campus-wide communications, Blackburn, dorms and all Schools and Colleges.
  • Limit (2) entries per student.
  • Selected number of contest winner spots will run (2 weeks) on-air via RESNET beginning October 24th through Election Day. (Number of run times TBD.)
  • All spots must be provided as QuickTime files and meet specific technical requirements.   QuickTime File1440 x 1080; Frame rate 29.97.
  • WHUT reserves the right to review and select a limited number that would then appear on-air up and until the polls close on November 6th.


   Deadline for Entries:                                 Wednesday, October 17th
   Review and Selection:                              Thursday & Friday, October 18-19th
   Spots Begin Running On-Air:                  Wednesday, October 24th thru November 6th
