American Public Health Association Honors Howard Professor

WASHINGTON (November 9, 2012) – Howard University Professor Roberta B. Hollander, Ph.D., MPH, was the recipient of the Judith R. Miller Award in recognition of extraordinary service to the American Public Health Association. The award was presented to Hollander at the national conference of the American Public Health Association in San Francisco on Oct. 30.

“I am deeply honored to have been a member of the American Public Health Association for 35 years, and to have been able to contribute through elected and voluntary roles,” Hollander said.

Hollander has served as a faculty member in the Department of Health, Human Performance and Leisure Studies at Howard University for the past 25 years. She teaches undergraduate and graduate-level courses in health education and health promotion. Her research covers various topics, including patient-provider issues and women’s health. 

As a member of APHA, Hollander has served in many roles including chair of the Public Health Education/Health Promotion section, the organization’s largest section.
