WASHINGTON (April 17, 2012) – The Office of Protocol and Events is pleased to announce Behind the Scenes: A Panel Discussion on the Live Entertainment Industry Tuesday, April 24, at 6 p.m. in the Blackburn Gallery Lounge. The event features an interactive session with Debra Rathwell, senior vice president of AEG Live; and Mark Cheatham, vice president of Creative Artist Agency.

Behind the Scenes will explore the struggle and triumphs of working in the business of live entertainment.  The panelists will shed light on developing careers as an agent, booking successful tours and promotional events. Rathwell and Cheatham will share insights on what makes AEG Live and Creative Artist Agency successful. The panel will conclude with a Q&A and a networking reception.

AEG Live is the second largest promoter in the world, which promotes and produced some of the nation’s biggest tours including artists such as Usher, Taylor Swift and Justin Beiber.
