Alumna Brown Nominated for American Bar Association Presidency
Paulette Brown

WASHINGTON – Paulette Brown (B.A. ’73, J.D. ’76), a prominent labor lawyer and longtime advocate for diversity, was named as the uncontested nominee to be the American Bar Association (ABA) president in 2015. Successfully obtaining the post would make Brown the first minority woman to hold the organization’s presidency.

Brown is a labor and employment partner, the chief diversity officer and a member of the Labor & Employment Group of Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP in Madison, N.J. She obtained a bachelor’s of arts in political science from Howard University and a law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. She has held numerous positions, including in-house counsel to a number of Fortune 500 companies, past president of the National Bar Association, and municipal court judge.

If Brown remains the lone nominee for the post, her candidacy will come up for a committee vote at the next midyear conference, which is scheduled for February 2014.
