Howard and Pearson Announce Revised Timeline

WASHINGTON (February 4, 2014) – Howard University and Pearson announce today that the University has decided to roll out its online course offerings in stages, rather than under the more aggressive timeline originally envisioned.  Because of this decision, the parties have agreed to set aside the current agreement in favor of a period in which the University will continue to build out its infrastructure for online course offerings.  Over the next year, Howard University will continue its significant commitment and mobilization of resources, through HU-LEARN and HU-TEACH, to invest in course development, faculty training, and administrative support capacity for online course offerings on a larger scale.

Howard University currently has six (6) online certificate and degree courses in place.  The current online offerings consist of: a post-baccalaureate degree from the College of Pharmacy; a clinical laboratory science course toward a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health; a Bachelor of Science nursing degree; an executive Master of Business Administration degree; a paralegal studies certificate; and, an online course to support the Ready-to-Teach initiative.  The University is committed to bolstering these courses, increasing their visibility, and adding significantly to these offerings over the next few years.

Howard University and Pearson will revisit a broader rollout, including international offerings and a large-scale marketing and branding campaign around Howard’s online courses, in the future.
