WASHINGTON - On February 11, 2014, Dr. Michelle A. Albert, Vivian Allen Beaumont Endowed Professor and chief of cardiovascular medicine and director of cardiovascular research at Howard University Hospital, was honored at Woman’s Day magazine’s 2014 Red Dress Awards. The Red Dress Awards is an annual event benefitting the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women program and honors those who have made significant contributions to the fight against heart disease, the number one killer of women today.

A longtime member of the Woman’s Day Heart Health Advisory Board, Dr. Albert has extensive clinical expertise in critical care and preventive cardiology and has devoted the last decade of her career to studying both the racial/ethnic and gender-specific aspects of heart disease. She is also nationally recognized for her work related to cardiovascular disease and race and ethnicity.

A graduate of Haverford College, University of Rochester School of Medicine and Harvard School of Public Health, Dr. Albert completed her internal medicine residency and chief residency at Columbia University, as well as a cardiovascular clinical and research fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where she was an associate professor in medicine and director of behavioral and neurocardiovascular cardiology. Dr. Albert came to Howard University in 2012.
