Howard University to Host Association of Black Cardiologists' 40th Anniversary Scientific Sessions

Dr. Michele Albert

WASHINGTON (March 21, 2014) – The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Howard University will host the 40th Annual Scientific Sessions of the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC) on Friday, March 28. The event will take place at the Howard University College of Medicine.

Commemorating ABC’s four decades of service, this year’s Scientific Sessions will tackle “The Ecology of Cardiovascular Disease in 2014: Trends, Challenges and Targets for 2015.” Michelle A. Albert, MD, MPH, Vivian Beaumont Allen endowed chair, chief of cardiovascular medicine and director of cardiovascular research at Howard University Hospital, will serve as conference chair.

ABC’s Scientific Sessions gather leading investigators, practitioners, researchers and authors from around the world to discuss and debate the global scope of cardiovascular disease and the latest developments in imaging and heart, valve and vascular interventions, all with a deliberate focus on improving outcomes for multi-ethnic populations. These are timely and necessary topics given that African Americans continue to have the highest death rates from heart disease and stroke.

WHEN:           Friday, March 28, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
WHERE:         Howard University College of Medicine
