Alumnus Boseman Celebrated for James Brown Biopic
Chadwick Boseman

WASHINGTON (July 31, 2014) – Howard University alumnus Chadwick Boseman (BFA ’00) is playing James Brown in the biopic film, Get on Up, which premieres Friday, Aug 1.

Boseman takes the audience on a journey from Brown’s impoverished childhood to his evolution into the “Godfather of Soul.” The movie is receiving positive attention. The Chicago Sun-Times called it a “powerful, raw, energized performance by Chadwick Boseman that makes this film worth seeing.”

Last year, Boseman played Jackie Robinson in the movie 42, which depicted the baseball star’s struggles as the first African-American major league baseball player.
