To our Snow Heroes: Thank you for the tireless efforts and personal sacrifices demonstrated during the month of February 2010 when the nation’s capital experienced one of its worst snow storms in decades. As recovery plans were implemented, you worked multiple long shifts, continuously cleared snow from vital campus roads and sidewalks, maintained buildings, coordinated emergency, security and public relations efforts, prepared and delivered meals to our students, provided necessary health services and handled a myriad of other critical administrative and physical tasks to ensure that our campus was quickly restored to an operational state. The personal sacrifices were enormous as many of you did not see your own families for long periods of time. Your commitment, hard work and personal sacrifices were deeply appreciated by the entire Howard University Community. Therefore, I am honored to designate you as one of our esteemed Howard University “Snow Heroes.” We could not have done it without you!
