Howard University
Countdown to Start of the New Academic Year

Welcome From the Vice President of Student Affairs

As Interim Vice President for the Division of Student Affairs, it is a great pleasure to extend my heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS on your acceptance to Howard University! On behalf of the staff in the Division of Student Affairs, we are excited to have you in the Howard family. Our staff includes many of the most talented and dedicated people with whom I've ever worked. Their commitment to their various roles, whether directly serving students, or in many other areas of student life, is steadfast and gives new meaning to the term excellence. Our goal is to help you navigate your path through your matriculation at Howard and help you get the most out of your experience. Moreover, the staff in Student Affairs will always support you but will challenge you when necessary.

Howard is an institution like no other, and you will feel that the moment you walk onto the campus. Here you will find some of the best and brightest minds in the world working together to make a real difference. Howard University students are part of a community of scholars united in the passionate pursuit of knowledge, truth, a steadfast commitment to social justice and an unwavering belief in rigorous civil dialogue. Howard embraces inclusivity and diversity while underscoring the tenets of service and leadership. This provides an atmosphere that may not be possible at any other campus in the world - where students of all backgrounds can come together to explore, question and to collaborate.

There will be several ways you can show your "Bison Pride" at Howard University: wear your Howard paraphernalia or Blue and White every Friday, attend a sporting event, tailgate for events, support campus wide competitions, and involve yourself in events such as Homecoming. Engaging in these simple actions is great for our University because it encourages a common bond between fellow students, alumni, faculty, and staff alike. Mr. Keith Miles, Chief of Staff, and I are fortunate to call Howard our home and hope you will as well. We encourage you to show love for Howard University every single day, because it is truly wonderful to be a Bison.

I look forward to seeing each of you in August!

With Bison Pride,
Constance M. Ellison, Ph.D.
