Extreme Makeover: Numa P.G. Adams Building
The ’Extreme Makeover’ renovation of the Numa P. G. Adams Building embodies the stipulation of the Academic Renewal Plan that the University should be have an increased focus on health sciences. Part of the Howard College of Medicine, the building is named for Numa Adams, the first African American to hold the position of Dean of the Medical School at Howard.
Agoos/Lovera is serving as the architect on the renovation of Numa Adams that will include upgrades to the restrooms, teaching and research laboratories, as well as new state-of-the-art audio/visual systems in the lecture halls. KIA, Inc., the interior design firm for the project has called for improved interior and exterior lighting, as well as upgrades to common areas such as entryways, hallways and reception areas. The renovations will also incorporate upgraded ADA (American Disabilities Act) compliance.
