What is Jumpstart?

Jumpstart is a national non-profit organization comprised of teachers and college students working to enhance and strengthen in areas of School Success, Family Involvement, and Future Teachers to improve early childhood education in the classroom and beyond. Jumpstart’s goal is to connect early with preschool children by building their literacy, social and emotional skills.
Jumpstart is working toward the day every child in American enters school prepared to succeed.

The Main Event-JFAD 2009

“Our Common Culture-Learning together about each other.”

Howard University opens its campus to more than 300 DC Public school children, their families and teachers to participate in our sixth annual Jumpstart For A Day. JFAD is a one-day learning fair where children and families are invited to participate in fun and educational stations that foster literacy, social and cognitive skills needed for success in the classroom. More than 150 Howard University students volunteers will staff this exciting event.
