The Volunteer Alumni Leadership Committee is a volunteer leadership group for the John H. Johnson School of Communications Building Fund. Committee members educate alumni on the importance of private giving to the School and encourage leadership commitments to the fund. The national goal for alumni giving is $500,000. Regional chairs serve as members of the committee.
EXPECTATIONS OF VOLUNTEER ALUMNI LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE
- To make a *$1,000.00 commitment to the JHJSOC Building Fund.
- To attend and/or participate in committee meetings and conference calls.
- To advocate for the John H. Johnson School of Communications and assume responsibility for alumni involvement within a specific region.
- To identify alumni and friends who have the potential to make a gift.
- To assist in strategic planning for prospective donors (alumni & friends).
- To undertake activities to encourage giving. Examples of activities include: attending and hosting events.
- To build a network of alumni and friends who will assist in accomplishing the above purposes.
REGIONAL COUNCILS
Regional Councils will be chaired by a member of the Volunteer Alumni Leadership Committee. The chair will be responsible for working with School staff to access a list of alumni and friends in the area. Once alumni leadership is identified, they will formulate a committee to produce receptions and/or events that will raise funds at the regional level. Regional committees will include:
- Atlanta
- Chicago
- District of Columbia
- Houston
- Los Angeles
- New York
REGIONAL CHALLENGE
A regional challenge will be announced at the receptions as well as on the John H. Johnson School of Communications website. The challenge will consist of each regional alumni committee challenging other regions to match or exceed their contributions to the Building Fund. John H. Johnson School of Communications staff will count gifts to let the regions know where they stand in the competition.
Volunteer Alumni Leadership Committee membership requires a tax deductible gift of $1,000.00 (*)
___ 10 monthly payments in the amount of $100.00
___ 4 quarterly payments in the amount of $250.00
___ 2 bi-annual payments in the amount of $500.00
___ 1 payment in the amount of $1,000.00
*Young Alumni are invited to join the notable and loyal supporters as members of the Volunteer Alumni Leadership Committee by joining at special gift levels. Gifts can be made quarterly, monthly or in full payment. (**)
1-5 years from graduation: $100
6-10 years from graduation: $250
11-15 years from graduation: $500
