Abraham (Abiyi) R. Ford, Professor at the John H. Johnson School of Communications at Howard University has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship grant to lecture at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia during the 2004-2005 academic year, according to the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

AOL Short-Film Winner

We are pleased to announce that AOL Black Focus and Africana.com have selected Raafi Rivero, student in the Department of Radio, Television and Film at the John H. Johnson School of Communications, as the winner of the 2004 short-film contest.

Consequently, Raafi will be awarded the following prize:

  • One (1) all access pass to the 2004 American Black Film Festival, held in Miami, July 14 -18, 2004
  • Round - trip airfare to the festival
  • Hotel lodging during the festival
  • Online promotion of Raafi's short-film and bio on AOL Black Focus and Africana.com
