Bayliss Foundation Awards Radio Scholarship to
John H. Johnson School of Communications Senior


Washington, DC (Tuesday, July 19, 2005) -- Karen Lawson, senior, Radio, TV and Film student is one of the recipients of The John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation Scholarship Award. The John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation announced that 12 college and graduate-level students at colleges and universities nationwide have each been awarded a $5,000 Bayliss Radio Scholarship for the 2005 -2006 academic year.

Ms. Lawson is currently enrolled in the Department of Radio, Television and Film as an Audio Production major. The students were selected to receive the Bayliss Scholarship because of their academic achievement and extracurricular radio activities, their passion for radio and their desire to contribute to the overall advancement of the radio industry. The colleges and universities represented were Emerson College, Pepperdine University and Syracuse University.

The Bayliss Foundation was established in 1985 to honor the life and work of John Bayliss, one of the radio industry’s most dedicated and respected executives. As a leading industry executive, he achieved top audience ratings and record revenues for individual stations and groups.
