Dear Class of 2012:
Congratulations on your accomplishments and acceptance into one of the most prominent historically black colleges and universities! The John H. Johnson School of Communications (JHJSOC) at Howard University continues to attract the best and brightest students and is noted for graduating the largest number of African-American communications majors in the world. We are excited about the opportunity to get to know you as your academic advisors.
The JHJSOC requires all first-time-in-college (FTIC) students to participate in our pre-registration program JULY 14- 18. This process has been implemented to insure that you get a class schedule prior to your arriving on campus. The attached communication will assist you in selecting your courses for the fall semester. Please read the literature carefully. You must complete and forward your selected class schedule to bterry-williams@howard.edu or sgaines@howard.edu for academic approval.
REMEMBER to:
- Submit proof of your immunization records to the University Health Center. All students are required to have certain vaccinations. A health hold will prevent you from registering.
- Take the Math Placement Exam on line prior to registering. Your math placement result is essential.
- If your requested major requires a foreign language, find your appropriate level of foreign language to register for here (LINK TO FOREIGN LANGUAGE PLACEMENT SHEET in foreignlanguageplacement.doc)
- Once you have selected your classes, e-mail your schedule immediately to bterry-williams@howard.edu or sgaines@howard.edu for academic approval.
- If you have registered for an incorrect class, we will delete or make the necessary changes.
Again, welcome to Howard University’s John H. Johnson School of Communications. Remember to follow the registration procedure on the Bison-web. A tentative schedule of events for our Freshmen Orientation Week is posted on the JHJ School of Communications website, www.soc.howard.edu. Please feel free to call us at
(202) 806-7980 if you have any questions. We look forward to meeting you at our opening session on Sunday, August 17 th, 2008!
Sincerely,
Bernadette Williams, Sr., Academic Advisor
Sandra L. Gaines, Academic Advisor
