Dear JHJ School of Communications Transfer Student:
Congratulations on your accomplishments and acceptance into one of the most prominent historically black colleges and universities. The John H. Johnson School of Communications (JHJSC) at Howard University continues to attract the best and brightest students and is noted for graduating the largest number of African-American communications majors in the world. We are excited about the opportunity to get to know you as your academic advisors.
We are currently evaluating your transcript to determine transferable classes to Howard University. Once the evaluation is completed, the Office of Enrollment Management will apply the credits to your Howard academic record. Credits for English (002 and 003) will not be awarded until you have completed the English Placement Test which will be given on Tuesday, August 21, in the Biology Auditorium. When selecting your “tentative” schedule of classes for Fall 2007, do not register for a class you think might transfer to Howard. I strongly discourage you from registering for any upper level “major” courses. You can add and drop classes on your schedule once your transcript has been evaluated by the Academic Advisors in August.
The attached communication will assist you in selecting your courses for the fall semester. Please read the literature carefully. You must complete and forward your selected class schedule to bterry-williams@howard.edu or sgaines@howard.edu for academic approval.
REMEMBER to:
- Submit proof of your immunization records to the University Health Center. All students are required to have certain vaccinations. A health hold will prevent you from registering.
- Take the Math Placement Exam on line prior to registering. Your math placement result is essential.
- If your requested major requires a foreign language, the attached sheet will assist you with the appropriate level of foreign language to register for
- Once you have selected your classes, e-mail your schedule immediately to your academic advisors for review. If you have registered for an incorrect class, the academic advisors will inform you to make the necessary corrections.
Again, welcome to Howard University’s, JHJ School of Communications. Remember to follow the registration procedure on the Bison-web (www.howard.edu). A tentative schedule of events for our Orientation Week will be posted on the JHJ School of Communications website, www.soc.howard.edu. We look forward to meeting you at our opening session on Sunday, August 19th, 2007 and please feel free to call us at 202/806-7980 if you have any question.
Sincerely,
