Master of Arts (MA) in Special Education
(36 credit hours)

The MA in special education provides specialized preparation for teachers of students who have a different rate or style of learning and require specific types of academic and social assistance.  The candidate will serve as a resource to agencies and to the families of special needs learners.  This degree program leads to certification in K-12 learning environments for learners with special needs.

Master of Education (MEd) in Special Education
(36 credit hours)

The MEd in special education provides eligible candidates with the necessary skills, knowledge, and disposition for serving students who have special learning needs.  These candidates will be certified upon program completion and will be prepared to teach, counsel, consult, collaborate, and serve as a resource to general educators, agencies, and the families of special needs learners.

Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS)
(30 credit hours)

The CAGS Program in special education provides training for the advanced preparation of special education personnel who have earned a master's degree in special education or have obtained certification/licensure. Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years of successful teaching in an accredited special education program.
