Master of Education (MEd) in Reading Education

The MEd in reading education meets the needs of candidates who have at least 2 years of full-time teaching experience. The program is designed to prepare reading intervention teachers, reading specialists/coaches, and reading supervisors/coordinators. Individuals interested in becoming curriculum developers or working in nonprofit organizations or literacy/tutoring programs in nonschool settings or private practices are also served by this degree.
Master of Art (MA) in Reading Education

The MA in reading education is designed to meet the needs of candidates who are interested in the field of reading but do not wish to obtain reading teacher or reading specialist certification for public education. Students with this degree typically work in nonprofit organizations, community colleges, or private practices, curriculum development organizations. This program is also appropriate for individuals hoping to pursue an educational doctorate in reading or literacy.
Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Reading Education
(30 credit hours--minimum)
The CAGS Program in reading education is designed for individuals who already hold a master’s degree and are pursuing additional courses primarily for career advancement or professional development or as a precursor to a doctoral program.
