Must have at least a 3.0 GPA

Goal to become a PK-12 Public School Teacher

James Patterson Teacher Education Scholarship Fund

Full-time Freshman

May or may not have financial need

Scholarship may be used to cover cost of tuition in the School of Education

Applicant must write a 3-5 page essay on how the student will improve education in his or her state

Hattie M. Strong Foundation Teacher Scholarship

Merit based scholarship

Must have at least a 3.0 GPA

Students must be in final year of study

Must submit essay based on previously selected questions

Grace Hawkins-Briggs & Leah Person Hawkins Endowed Scholarship Fund

Must have at least a 3.0 GPA

Must be pursuing a degree in the School of Education or the School of Social Work

Preference towards recipients in the Washington DC metropolitan area or from Greenville SC

Lillian Gertrude Dabney Endowed Scholarship Fund

Must show financial need; awarded to a student enrolled in the teacher education program

Challenge Fund Scholarship

Must show financial need; awarded to a needy student enrolled in the teacher education program

Trustee Scholarship

Must be enrolled in coursework not including Internship, Practicum, Thesis or Dissertation credits

Must not be working full-time on or off campus

Must be enrolled as full-time students

Must have at least a 3.5(graduate)/ 3.2(undergraduate) GPA based on full-time enrollment for the prior academic year (12 cr. minimum will not include credits from courses in the CAR)

Must show evidence of high academic achievement

Must be nominated by a Departmental Chairperson

Must show exemplary service record in the School of Education

Must be ranked in the top ten percent of their class

Transfer students must have a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA and at least 15 approved transfer credit hours

Must be enrolled in the School of Education

Must have a minimum GPA of at least 3.5 and show financial need

Must be a full-time undergraduate student of color in the arts and sciences

Must be a junior

Must be willing to enter into a master's program in Education or educational related studies

Must plan to teach a minimum of three years in a public elementary or secondary school setting

Must select a mentor who is a member of the participating institutions
