Dr. Gourdine has worked has a clinician, administrator, consultant and researcher in the areas of juvenile justice, foster care and adoption, medical social work, school social work. Her publications include refereed articles and book chapters on topics such as teenage pregnancy, transracial adoption, females and violence, school social work, and disability content in social work curricula. Dr. Gourdine completed her doctorate degree at Howard University School of Social Work with specialization in Health Care and Child Welfare, her Masters of Social Work degree at Atlanta University School of Social Work. A former social worker of the year as designated by Metro Chapter of NASW (2000), she has assumed leadership in the area of children and disabilities as she has been a member and now chairs ( as mayoral appointee) a commission on Infants and Toddlers with disabilities. She has been appointed to the Advisory Committee for Child and Family Services in the District of Columbia. |
