Chair of the Human Behavior and the Social environment Sequence. Dr. Jones publications include Critical incident stress management: A program to address issues of secondary traumatization among disaster workers; Music and movement therapy: A continuing education approach to address mental health issues of global concern; Girl gangs: Taking a closer look; Women and Development: Global perspectives for Gender Conscious Transformation in the New millennium; and Is the therapeutic process more effective if the client and the helping professional are of the same ethnic/cultural group?” Dr. Jones is currently the director of the International Linkage Program and she coordinates annual Mental Health Seminars and Conferences through out the Caribbean. She developed and assisted in the implementation of the School’s South Africa International Independent Study Program with Huguenot College, Wellington South Africa and assisted in the development of the School’s Caribbean International Independent Study Program with the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados. Dr. Jones developed and implemented a program in “Critical Incident Stress management” for the Federal Emergency Management Agency-Homeland Security at the Virginia National Processing Service Center. Dr. Jones also serves on a number of boards and committees at both the national and local levels, including The Caribbean Federation On Mental Health, U.S. Army Family Advocacy Program, The Institute for Organizational Wellness, Inc, Behavioral Medicine Association, Inc, U.S. Federal Management Agency, Homeland Security, Federal Aviation Administration and National Council of Negro Women, Inc. As a result of her professional and civil activities, Dr. Jones has received a number of awards and citations including the Outstanding Service and Women of the Year Award from FEMA and honored by the British Virgin Islands government, Ministry of Community and Social Development, Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Certificates of Appreciation for participation in Conferences on: African American Family and Aging and Current Research and Practice Perspectives. She currently holds memberships with the Academy of Certified Social Workers, The Trustees of the Baltimore Council on Foreign Affairs, Council on Social Work Education, National Association of Social Workers, Caribbean Federation on Mental Health, The Association of Management, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, Board of Davis Memorial Goodwill Industries, Morgan State Alumni and Howard University Alumni Association. |
