Specialties: Mental Health, Cultural Competence and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Issues.

Classes Taught: Direct Services I, II, and III , Field Seminar I, II and III, Black Families, Social Work Research, and Social Work Practice with Communities and Organizations.

Dr. Majied has worked as a clinician, clinical supervisor, and consultant in a wide array of health and human service settings. Her writings focus on Cultural Competence as it impacts Social Work Practice, Policy and Research. She is an expert on oppression as it impacts mental health, social functioning and community and organizational development. As a consultant she specializes in assisting individuals, groups, communities and organizations in team –building, needs assessment, program development and cultural competence. She has successfully assisted various organizations in addressing problematic situations and in developing  programming that both welcomes and supports diversity and meets organizational and community needs. 

 She received both her Masters and Ph.D. in Social Work from the State University of New York at Albany and has been a licensed clinical social worker since 1998. Dr Majied is chair of the Program Committee for the District of Columbia Mental Health Association and also serves on the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Council on Sexual Orientation and Gender Expression.
