Mark A. L. Mason, a member since 2012, is chief financial officer of the Institutional Clients Group (ICG) of Citigroup. He served as CEO of Citi Private Bank until he was promoted into his current position. Prior to that, he served as the chief executive officer of Citi Holdings and as chief financial officer and head of strategy and M&A for Citi’s Global Wealth Management Division.
Mr. Mason joined Citigroup in 2001 as vice president of corporate development, where he worked with multiple Citi business units to enhance cross-selling activities. He was instrumental in the formation of Citi Alternative Investments and the development of its client-focused strategy. His other positions include chief of staff to Citigroup’s chairman and chief executive officer, and chief financial officer and chief operating officer for Citigroup Real Estate Investments. Prior to joining Citigroup, Mr. Mason held various positions at Lucent Technologies, Marakon Associates, a strategy consulting firm, and Goldman, Sachs & Co. Since 2010, he has served on the board of Primerica, the largest independent financial services marketing organization in North America.
In 2013, he was named Corporate Executive of the Year by Black Enterprise magazine; in 2011, he received the Howard University Distinguished Alumni Award for achievements in business; in 2009, he was named one of the “100 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America” by Black Enterprise; and in 2008, he was recognized on Crain's New York Business’s "40 Under 40" list and received the YMCA Business Leadership Award.
Mr. Mason earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance and graduated with honors from Howard University and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.
