Pierre U. Etienne

Graduate Student Trustee
College of Medicine

Pierre U. Etienne, a member since 2011, serves as Graduate Student Trustee.  A native of Southern California, he is of Haitian ancestry and a junior in the HU College of Medicine (HUCM).  He is currently the primary HU representative to the Association of American Medical Colleges Office of Student Representatives section. Among many activities at HUCM, he has been Student Council Vice President of Education, a voting member of the Curriculum Board, and a committee member of the LCME Accreditation Committee. He has also served on several University committees, including the Health Sciences Committee reviewing the student technology program, and as a student representative on the Presidential Commission on Academic Renewal. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. degree in Biology from Howard University and is the recipient of the Lloyd H. Newman Service Award for unselfish, committed service to colleagues and university. He is a member of the American Student Medical Association, Student National Medical Association, and Golden Key International Honor Society. His extensive volunteer service includes Beautification Day—DC Public Schools; NBC4 Health Expo; American Red Cross; Bread for the City; and MAPS Conference Panelist for Pre-Health Professions Students.  A black belt in Tae Kwon Do, his interests include poetry, music, photography, computers, medical research, and working with youth.
