The DC Small Business Development Center is an
outgrowth of a cooperative agreement among the U.S.
Small Business Administration, Howard University,
and the District of Columbia Government. It is a
proven partnership between local government and the
University in meeting the community development and
small business needs of the communities surrounding
Howard’s central campus. The Center works in
collaboration with the business community, professional
associations, local governments, federal government
agencies and area universities to deliver counseling,
training and technical assistance in all aspects of
business management. It supports the development
of new business ventures and provides management
assistance.
The services offered by the Center include, but are not
limited to, assisting small businesses with financing,
marketing, business planning, market research and
procurement. Staff are trained business counselors
who provide free one-on-one counseling to clients
in both English and Spanish. The program operates
