Microcounseling
Coordinator: Dr. Diana Wall
(dwall@howard.edu)
The
Microcounseling training takes place during the fall semester of each
training year. Through this component, the HUCS interns are provided with
the opportunity to develop their teaching and supervision skills as
facilitators of the Microcounseling seminar.
Microcounseling skills training is a core training
activity for graduate-level practicum students in
the clinical psychology program. They spend 1.5 hours per week in developing
basic helping skills. HUCS interns provide this training through the
Microcounseling seminar which utilizes didactic
instruction, case material and the discussion of role plays. HUCS interns
receive weekly supervision from a UCS senior staff member to assist them in
their role as seminar facilitators. |
