Testing Program

The university, in cooperation with Education Testing Services (ETS) and Prometric, offers computer-based (CBT), paper-based and distance learning testing in the University Counseling Service Center located on 6th & Bryant Street, NW Building 19, the Student Resource Center, Ground level. Please note that the entrance is on 6th Street.  The center is open for testing services Sunday – Monday except on holidays.  Space is limited to five (5) examinees for a testing session so it is to the examinee’s advantage to register early. Examinees wishing to take either testing format should obtain the appropriate information on each exam’s respective website and select Howard University’s Testing Center number: 7716 as their desired testing location.  For additional information regarding testing services and facilities, please call (202)806-6428. 

Computer-Based Testing (CBT)

The CBT facility offers the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), and Praxis Series exams.

Paper-Based Testing

The paper-based division offers the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) and the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).  These exams are only offered on specific test dates.  Please contact the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) on their website at www.lsac.org or by phone at 1(215)968-1001 to register for the LSAT.  Please contact the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) on their website at www.ncbex.org or by phone at the LSAC on 1(215)504-3886 to register for the MPRE.

Distance Learning Testing

The distance learning division offers proctoring services for student enrolled in online course who require supervised examination.  Examinees desiring to have their exams proctored need to contact the Howard University Testing Center directly for dates, times and fee associated with this service at (202)806-6428.
