Welcome
As many of you know, more than 30,000 people kill themselves a year here in the United States. And one million worldwide. Approximately 650,000 people yearly receive emergency treatment after attempting suicide in the United States. It is the third leading cause of death among American youth and the third leading cause of death among African Americans ages 15 - 24. We at the Suicide Prevention Action Group want to save lives and advance knowledge on how to recognize the signs when someone is in a crisis. We also aim to encourage help seeking behavior when in stress, and feeling sad or angry. Suicide is not just a white thing anymore! Help us help others.
On behalf of the Suicide Prevention Action Group at Howard University, an event entitled "No More Secrets" was held at 7pm on March 22, 2012.
