Windows Minimum Support and Connection Requirements (Fall 2004)
(This requirement will be upgraded for the Spring Semester 2005)
A Wintel system with the minimum requirements
sufficient to run Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4
- Computer/Processor =133 MHz or faster Pentium-compatible processor; supports up to four CPUs on one machine
- Memory = 128 MB of RAM (256 MB recommended); 4 GB maximum
- Hard Disk = 2 GB hard disk with 1 GB available hard-disk space; additional available
- Drive = CD-ROM or DVD drive
- Display = VGA or higher-resolution monitor
- Peripheral = Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device (optional); ensure that all system components are on the Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) for Windows 2000 Server
Windows Recommended System for Fall/Spring 2004-2005
(This is the minimum requirement for Spring 2005)
A Wintel system with the minimum requirements sufficient to run Windows XP Professional with Release Candidate 2 (AKA Service Pack 2)
- PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
- 256 Mb RAM
- 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space*
- Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor
- CD-ROM or DVD drive
- Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
Macintosh Recommended System Fall and Spring Semesters 2004-2005
(This is the minimum requirement for Spring 2005)
A Macintosh with the minimum requirements sufficient to run Macintosh OS Mac OS X 10.3.x, (a.k.a. Panther) with the 802.1x Client
Network connection support
All student personal computers must meet minimum configuration standards before they will be allowed access to the HU-Network
Student owned personal computers which meet these configuration standards will be supplied, if requested, with:
- Windows XP
- Symantec antivirus Version 8.1
- The Open Office Suite Version 1.1
