iLab and Commuter Computer Lab Policies

Admission to the iLab and the Commuter Computer Labs:

  • All persons visiting the iLab and Commuter Computer Labs must present a valid Capstone Card or other valid Photo ID identification (i.e. drivers license, Consortium ID, employee ID)
  • Once the identification has been checked and verified (photo and ID holder matched) by the Access Control Monitor stationed at the door, the visitor will be permitted to proceed into the lab.
  • Only HU currently registered students and currently employed faculty and staff will be admitted.
  • Persons without HU Capstone ID shall present a valid photo ID (e.g., driver/non-driver license; Consortium ID or other employee ID to the officer). Officer shall personally enter the information on log form.
  • Children are NOT allowed in the Labs. Exceptions: young persons participating in tours or University-sponsored educational programs are admitted if accompanied at all times by an authorized university official. Additionally, children of HU personnel are admissible per current University policy in this regard.
  • Neither food nor drink or food or drink containers are allowed in the labs. Patrons are ONLY allowed to eat in the Student Lounge of the iLab.
  • No weapons, firearms, animals or other pets are allowed in labs . Exception: Seeing eye dogs.

Use of the iLab and the Commuter Computer Labs:

  • Use of Cell phones, pagers and Two-Way communications devices is prohibited in the labs.
    • All ringers and alarms on such devices should be turned to off or set to vibrate.
    • Hands free devices are also prohibited.
  • All conversations must be held at whisper levels.
  • Class and group meetings are prohibited in the labs.
  • Printing limits are set a 30 pages per/day.
  • Computer audio output must be monitored with directly connected headphones.
  • To save data users must supply their own storage media, i.e.:
    • Floppy disks
    • Zip Disks
    • Jump Drives
    • BackPacks
  • No client may install, modify, delete and/or reconfigure any software on any workstation in the iLab or Commuter Computer Lab. Additionally, no client may install, modify, adjust or reconfigure any hardware in the iLab or Commuter Computer Lab.
  • Anyone who violates these policies, operational procedures and guidelines may have their iLab or or Commuter Computer Lab access privileges revoked. Please report any violation immediately to the Director of Academic Computing Services.
