Howard University offers faculty members four categories of software
licenses:

Every program listed above
is available for use on all University-owned computers.
These licenses are renewed yearly.
Faculty-Owned
Computers:
Participating colleges
have paid an annual license fee allowing faculty/staff
to order media (CD-ROMs) for work-at-home use.
Faculty/staff are only paying to lease
the media. The media is fully licensed as long
as your college's/university's Microsoft® Campus Agreement is
in place and you remain an eligible employee. The
license stipulates that you may order only one
copy of each program during the license year.

Computers:
To obtain copies of any software
available under this licensing agreement, bring blank CDs to the iLab.
There you will be asked to fill out a form and show a Howard picture
ID. You will be called when the CDs are ready.
Faculty- and Staff-owned
computers:
Go to http://msca.foundationccc.org/order1.asp and follow the instructions.
Depending on the software,
each item costs around $40 - $50. A list can be found

software obtained as part of the MSDNAA Program is restricted to research,
instructional,
or non-commercial
research purposes only.* NO SOFTWARE OBTAINED UNDER
THIS LICENSING AGREEMENT MAY BE USED FOR ADMINISTRATIVE
PURPOSES.
*Research purposes are defined as conducting academic and not-for-profit
research projects.
*Instructional purposes are defined as conducting educational classes,
labs or related programs for teaching.

Symantec's Norton Anti-Virus Licenses

Licensing Conditions:
It is absolutely essential that you always run up-to-date
anti-virus software on your computer. Protecting your office computer
also protects the viability of the entire HU computer network. This
agreement covers University-owned computers only.
Where to Obtain Available Software:
To obtain copies of any software available under this
licensing agreement, bring blank CDs to the iLab. There you will be

This software can be installed without limit on University- and faculty-owned computers.
THIS SOFTWARE IS NOT TO BE INSTALLED ON STUDENT COMPUTERS.
A lower-cost student version is available from the bookstore. The license is available for yearly renewal.
The site license at Howard University also includes home use licenses for faculty to use on their personal machines. These are separate licenses from the main site license number as SPSS sends them directly to faculty. Faculty will have the option to either download or receive a new CD for their home use license. SPSS then provides them the password directly to help keep the administration down on the home use licenses. A faculty can request a new or upgraded home use license via the following URL: http://www.wolfram.com/solutions/highered/homeuse.cgi.
SPSS:
This software can be installed without limit on University- and faculty-owned computers.
