Thank you for visiting the Howard University Health Sciences Simulation Center website. The Simulation Center is a state-of-the-art learning environment specifically designed by a multidisciplinary team to support health sciences professional education in our Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Health. In addition, the Center allows a comprehensive simulation experience to enhance clinical and technical skills education in the Howard University Hospital's graduate medical/dental education training programs.
The center allows opportunities for health professions students to engage in interactive learning with those outside their profession as a routine part of their education. The Howard University Health Sciences enterprise is preparing all health professions students/trainees for collaborative care with the goal of patient-centered compassionate care.
Howard University is a national leader in producing excellent healthcare professionals through its many programs. Education using emerging technologies to enhance the curricula in the health sciences has gained widespread acceptance in healthcare education. Simulation is a teaching modality that using technology to replicates patient care encounters with artificial models, standardized patients, manikins or virtual reality in a realistic environment. The ultimate goal is to promote patient safety through simulation education.
